In 2010, the small village of Newcastleton on the Scottish Border hosted the first “24 Hours of Exposure”, the UK 24 Hour Solo Mountain Bike Championships. This year we return to Scotland and organisers SIP Events have added “12 Hours of Exposure” to the event and an even more prestigious title – the European 24 hour and 12 hour Solo MTB Championships.
Starting on Saturday 7th May 2011, the event is the only 24 and 12 hour race only for solo riders in Europe and provides the specific type of facilities solo riders need to help them compete for these durations. The event title sponsor Exposure Lights will provide light charging and light hire, with neutral mechanical support and bike washing from Juice Lubes, energy drink from Torq, lots of trackside camping, massage services, the “Ergon Green Room” and more on a 16km, all-weather course using the Newcastleton 7Stanes trails.
Riders can compete in one of four categories – open men, open women, veteran men and veteran women. The winner of each category will receive the European Champion jersey designed by Morvelo Apparel and made by Vitesse, and the exclusive “Exposure Lights” trophy. Other trophies and prizes are on offer including the ‘XCRacer.com Singlespeed Champion’ jersey, the ‘Morvelo Rookie’ jersey for the highest placed rider that has never raced in a solo event before and spot prizes from Saddle Skedaddle.
The race is open to all mountain bike riders including experienced endurance riders and riders taking their first step into endurance racing. We have a number of non-UK riders registered already and hope riders will come from all over Europe to make this a really international event so please email Denne emailadresse er beskyttet mod programmer som samler emailadresser.
